Lending Report

Considerate Group and a top banking partner created an ESG credit risk framework for lenders, offering cost-effective, tailored reporting on asset ESG. It focuses on carbon and energy risk, providing objective data for green lending.

New ESG Solution for Lenders

Working with a leading banking partner to the hospitality sector, Considerate Group has developed an ESG credit risk framework, delivering bespoke reporting on the ESG characteristics of assets in a hospitality loan portfolio.

Cost-effective Approach for Portfolio-wide Benchmarking

Reports can be delivered cost-effectively across single assets as well as for larger portfolios of tens or even hundreds of assets, with more detailed reports to support new lending decisions, together with regular annual monitoring.

Reports are tailored to individual Credit Committee requirements, but critically developed around a shared framework with common elements to keep costs to a minimum, whilst supporting ongoing monitoring and portfolio benchmarking.

Objective Data Against Which Green Lending Decisions Can Be Made

The core concept is of a carbon and energy risk framework offering an objective view of the efficiency of building stock. The results are collated by Considerate Group to produce a property-specific Carbon & Energy Risk Review, together with a clear ESG risk score to support monitoring, benchmarking and reporting.

The report can also cover other aspects of the property, including location-specific risks and opportunities, contextual policy details and future opportunities for improvement.

Lenders Are The Gatekeepers to Green Project Finance

As a heavily regulated sector, able to influence decision-making, the finance sector is undoubtedly a key implementation channel for ESG policies and regulation worldwide. This puts the banking sector at the vanguard of change, driving investment in ESG to secure finance on attractive terms, including green finance and loans.

Over the course of 2024-25, we believe that the banking sector will prove to be the key ESG gatekeeper for the hospitality and broader real estate sector, determining which deals get financed.
